back to Portland meet mother & call up B_ again and had a nice talk. I am feeling awfully gloomy cause I didn't get to see her. take the train back to camp to 11:30. Mon - April 8, 1918 get to camp at 5 oclock and am on K.P. go out for exercises and sprained my ankle jumping the hurdles stay on K.P.all day still feel awfully lonesome. write to B and send it to the train. Tue - April 9, 1918 go to the hospital on account of my ankle in for about 10 days the doctor said. Read all day. |
Wed - April 10, 1918 still in the hospital. read most of the time & sleep the rest of the day. one of the boys came over to see me tonight. Thu - April 11, '18 get back to the barracks but confined to quarters. big revue this afternoon. wrote to Berniece, read awhile & go to bed. Fri - April 12, '18 French lessons today. nothing much doing for me all day, read most of the time & write to cousin Lucile. go to bed early. |
